Additional information about Aerojet Rocketdyne can be obtained by visiting our websites at and are seeking an Associate Material and Process (M and P) Engineer to join our liquid rocket propulsion engineering team who has the knowledge, drive, enthusiasm, leadership and initiative to enhance our materials and process capability. This entry:level position will be located at our facility in West Palm Beach, FL.The associate engineer will join a diverse team of M and P engineers responsible for all M and P aspects of our liquid engine propulsion product lines. This includes selection and development of metals and metals processing, joining and finishing processes, materials requirements management, production floor support, and failure investigations as required.This position may be filled at the level posted or at the next higher level.Under direct supervision and following specific instructions and established policies, this individual performs professional engineering assignments requiring full use and application of standard engineering principles, theories, concepts and techniques. Provides Materials and Processes Engineering discipline support to engineering team lead. The position requires some independent professional judgment and application of engineering principles, theories and concepts. 50 : Support Design Process: Working under the direction of senior M and P staff the engineer will support product designs by providing material and process selection recommendations, reviewing design drawings, reviewing manufacturing planning, and supporting Engineering Review Boards; participating in design reviews and customer technical interchange meetings; evaluating suppliers and their materials and processes to ensure they meet requirements. 40 : Support Product and Process Development: Working as part of a team, the engineer will conduct a variety of tasks, such as evaluating metal forming processes, metallic joining techniques (brazing, welding), and corrosion protection (passivation, anodization, plating); assessing fluid compatibility, stress corrosion, and hydrogen embrittlement susceptibility; identifying advanced materials; establishing standards for experimental, test and/or production purposes; performing laboratory and manufacturing experiments; and interpreting, analyzing, evaluating, and reporting on data and processes. 10 : Perform other duties as assigned.Requires a BachelorA?s degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Masters degree in Materials Engineering preferred. Strong project planning, critical thinking, written and oral communication skills are required. Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment. Candidate must be experienced using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. This position requires the ability to read, interpret, prepare, and issue drawings and related specifications, as well as the ability to use test and other measurement equipment. Six Sigma knowledge and experience in the aerospace industry are desired. US Citizenship Only Required. Dual Citizenship does not meet job qualifications. Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. citizenship). Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information.
