This is a breech loading "Miller"Conversion of a US Model 1863 rifle (Civil War musket) made by "Parkers, Snow & Co." of Meriden, Conn. The contract manufacturer's name and location are on the lock plate along with the "eagle" over "U. S." and "1864," the year of manufacture of the original percussion musket from which the conversion was made. This .58 rimfire caliber rifle is in fair condition for its age. The metal definitely shows its age. The color is varying shades of old rifle plum. The bore looks good. There are "u"'s on the barrel bands. The wood has no major dings or cracks. This rifle is a very interesting piece of history with the dual heritage of being a civil war rifle and one that has been converted from percussion to breech loading. The only things wrong I see is one of the thru stock bolts is stripped but it comes out easily and the first stock band is missing. The rifle locks uptight. txt 561 324-6690
