The Barrel retains 98% of its original blued finish along the length. The front, exposed portion is slightly thinner but still retains the majority of its original blued finish. The left side of the sear has the correct sans serif Springfield “S” stamp. This rifle is rare because it remains in its 1913 configuration and was never modified. It also appears never to have been issued given its very fine condition. Springfield Armory Model 1903 Rifle in .30-06 that was manufactured in 1913. There is no Hatcher Hole on the left side of the receiver so it was never altered for WWII service. The Receiver retains the majority of its original case-hardened finish on both the lower, protected areas and the upper, exposed areas. The Trigger retains the majority of its finish and this particular type of Trigger was used by Springfield after 1910, The Rear Sight is held by the original Fixed Rear Sight Base.
