Overview: The primary emphasis of the Payroll Tax Accountant II is compliance with federal, state and local payroll tax reporting requirements and timely payments. This position plays a major role in the output of the organization by complying with statutory requirements and minimizing late payment penalties.Business Contributions:The output generated by the Payroll Tax Accountant II includes daily payments requests and monthly, quarterly and annual reports. Three major business contributions the Payroll Tax Accountant II provides to Oasis Outsourcing are:Compliance with federal, state and local payment and filing deadlines as required to retain PEO licenses.Timely response to federal, state and local payroll tax notices related to withholding and employer payroll taxes.Minimize the cost to Oasis for late payments or late filings.Responsibilities:Calculate and submit federal, state and local payroll tax payment requests on a timely basis File complete and correct payroll tax returns timely Prepare federal, state and local worksheets supporting daily payment liabilities. Handle payroll tax related inquiries from clients and payroll processors Assist with annual reconciliations and W-2 processing for all PEO's Submit copies of Forms W-2c to the Social Security Administration and amend federal and state filings to reflect changes. Research payroll tax issues and keep up-to-date on regulatory changes Respond to and resolve payroll tax notices from taxing authorities Maintain files/records in accordance with proper retention policy Provide useful payroll tax information to other departments to insure they have data necessary to set billing rates, accrue correct amounts, and provide good client services Provide backup for HRO payroll tax processing Assist in gathering data for quarterly "agreed upon procedure" audits by CPA firm engaged to provide these reports for certain states as required for PEO licensingKnowledge:Current knowledge of federal, state and local payroll tax rules and regulations.Skills:Ability to correctly prepare various federal, state and local reporting forms.Ability to effectively review work to insure the correct tax amounts are paid timely.Proven communication skills - both written and verbal.Proven computer skills and ability to attain a high level of skill using Microsoft products and MasterTax software.Ability to research issues effectively and to reach correct conclusions.Experience:Minimum of two years of previous experience in related areas. Education and Training:Bachelor's degree in accounting (or related field) from an accredited college.
