We are currently searching for an experienced and professional Accounting Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and highly motivated to succeed. The Accounting Manager performs a wide variety of accounting duties to support Temple Beth El including general ledger management and monthly closing, preparation of internal and audited financial statements, the creation of departmental and organizational budgets, forecasting, management reports, accounts payable and year-end audit preparation. The Manager is responsible for the accuracy of data transferred from the Temple’s CRM system into the general ledger system. In addition, the Accounting Manager is responsible for identifying areas where efficiencies and effectiveness can be improved, researching applicable regulatory guidelines and accounting standards, and leading the implementation of improvement solutions. The Manager must possess a strong command of generally accepted accounting principles.

This position is full-time and is scheduled 8:30a – 5:30p Monday through Thursday and 8:30a – 4:30p Friday. All candidates must pass a background screening and drug test in order to be considered for this position. Salary is commensurate with relevant work experience.

• Meet accounting financial objectives by ensuring the accuracy of the general ledger, and assisting in the preparation and maintenance of the annual budget.
• Prepare the statement of activities and the statement of financial position monthly, as well as department reports. Analyze material variances at the organization and department level and work closely with the Director of Finance and department directors to determine the necessary course of action, if any, to those variances.
• Coordinate the collection, evaluation and consolidation of financial data, including the transfer of data from the Temple’s CRM system.
• Manage the Temple’s chart of accounts to ensure that an appropriate structure is in place for the efficient flow and segregation of information.
• Manage the month-end and year-end close process including the preparation and entry of detailed journal entries into the general ledger.
• Manage accounts payable, including the Temple’s automated accounts payable process.
• Account analyses and associated reports as deemed necessary and/or requested.
• Ensure the integrity of financial records by reviewing, analyzing and where necessary, establishing or improving internal controls Temple-wide.
• Reconcile all bank accounts monthly and investigate discrepancies.
• Engage in ongoing cost reduction analyses in all areas of the Temple.
• Assists with cash deposits for all funds collected on an as needed basis.
• Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance with accounting standards.
• Manage and monitor stock donations and Israel bond purchases and sales.
• Manage the Temple’s Endowment Fund, including adding or removing named funds, and ensuring compliance with FUPMIFA.
• Participate in Committee meetings and record minutes.
• Ensure the confidentiality of member, staff and Temple information.
• Maintain and update, as necessary, a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel and Outlook. Advanced skills in QuickBooks. Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, and regulations.

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with a minimum of 5 years’ experience. CPA Preferred. Not-for-Profit experience preferred. Endowment management experience preferred.

This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required, which would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

This position is located at our Schaefer Family Campus in Boca Raton, Florida at 333 SW 4th Avenue. This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. This role is faced with constant interaction with staff, members & vendors and the successful candidate must have the ability to multi-task.
